3. The Registrar shows whether the licence is active today.
Only the Registrar knows a licence’s current status — it can lapse, be suspended or be revoked at any time — so that is the check that matters.
Not every business needs one. Restaurants, salons, shops, offices and many other trades do not need an ROC licence at all. No licence is not, by itself, a problem.
